In the throes of depression

A call came in, not long enough to answer it

Dialing the number, a voice mail-enabled to divert

Why would he call and not take the time to wait

Probably out of distress, a call was the best bait.

Pondering on what you have not, frustrates the mind

What could be the cause for it, for he calls and is done

A problem must be in route, discovery seems tough

When you call and do not wait, no person knows your road is rough.

Buzz! Buzz! A call came in, a different number displays

Did you receive a text from Cyrus, a shaky voice asks

What’s are the contents, because I haven’t seen a pop-up

‘Life's harder, depressed and...’ the call ends and a text comes in.

I am sorry life is hard for me life no longer makes sense

I have spent time searching; my heart only grows tenser

Was I destined for this, family left last night with no goodbye?

Securing a job in town is hard; the day ends with no cash to buy.

Lost in thought, I stare at the message trying to understand

From when did Cyrus lose it, the silence was a common stand

At the moment not believing, how long could he have struggled within?

Dialing the number to enquire, a voicemail at bay to listen beneath.

What will you do, younger brother asks in verges of despair

What would you do; hopefully, the heart is not out of repair

Travel to comfort him? No idea of where the home is

He always lived alone, never cared if our lives were at ease.

In a cocoon, there is warmth, outside airflows fresh

I thought and left undecided, later in the day a word to thrash

Living through discouragement, a sermon to entice

A thought came along, use the teachings for a brother’s penance.

Prayer in faith creates peace; doubters cannot believe an inch

Scriptures are a better guide, for a soul tormented to a wrench

1st Samuel 30:1 to eight, King David asks God for a reassurance

God provides for what he asks, a life He gave to you as an assurance.

Later in the day the sun sets,  a young man remembers a vow

Early prayer for the day, would bring forth all that was in woe

On the line dials a call away, to a soul worth saving and to strengthens

Psalms 126-1 fulfills a promise, a song of praise fills a heart to smoothen.

Happiness brims in a young heart, because the blood’s thicker

Narrating all teaching like a river, an eager ear listens rather quicker

All praise to the Almighty, never has a conversation been so beneficial

I relax and revise the day, a goal worth achieving came out so special.
